terms and conditions

Terms & Conditions

Versatile Vehicle Repairs Ltd

These Terms & Conditions apply to vehicle bodywork, paintwork, accident repairs and other services supplied by Versatile Vehicle Repairs Ltd (“we”, “us”, “the Repairer”).

By authorising us to commence work, the customer agrees to these Terms & Conditions. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

1. Estimates & Authorisation

All estimates are based on the damage and condition of the vehicle that can reasonably be identified at the time of inspection or from photographs supplied by the customer.

An estimate is not necessarily a fixed quotation unless specifically confirmed as such in writing.

Once work begins, additional damage or previously hidden defects may become apparent.

Where additional work or parts are required that materially increase the agreed price, we will contact the customer for authorisation before proceeding with that additional work, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary for safety or to prevent further damage.

Estimates are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

2. Vehicle Condition & Pre-Existing Damage

Vehicles may contain previous repairs, body filler, corrosion, poor-quality paintwork, incompatible materials or other defects that are not visible before work begins.

We will take reasonable care when carrying out repairs. However, we cannot guarantee the condition or performance of previous repairs or materials that we did not supply or apply.

Where previous repairs or underlying defects affect our ability to complete the agreed repair, we will advise the customer where reasonably practicable.

3. Paintwork & Colour Matching

Every reasonable effort will be made to achieve an accurate colour match using professional colour-matching and refinishing techniques.

Vehicle paint can change over time because of age, UV exposure, previous repairs, weathering and other factors.

For this reason, an absolutely identical colour match cannot always be guaranteed, particularly where the customer requests a localised or partial repair rather than blending into adjacent panels.

4. Body Filler & Repairable Panels

Where we recommend replacement of a damaged panel but the customer chooses to have the existing panel repaired instead, limitations associated with that repair will be explained where appropriate.

Repairs involving significant previous damage, corrosion, excessive filler or compromised substrates may be excluded from our warranty where the issue is outside the workmanship carried out by us.

5. Rust, Corrosion & Fibreglass

While reasonable efforts will be made to identify and repair visible corrosion, rust can originate from areas that cannot be seen during the original repair.

Unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing, we cannot guarantee that corrosion will not subsequently appear from an untreated or previously affected area.

Fibreglass components can naturally flex, crack or develop imperfections. Problems caused by the inherent condition or movement of existing fibreglass components are not considered defects in our workmanship.

6. Customer-Supplied Parts & Materials

Where a customer asks us to fit parts, paint or materials supplied by them, we cannot guarantee the quality, compatibility, fitment or durability of those items.

Our warranty will not cover a failure caused by customer-supplied parts or materials.

Additional labour required because an item is incorrect, defective or unsuitable may be chargeable.

7. Parts Availability

Completion times may be affected by parts availability or supplier delays.

Where a required part is unavailable or back-ordered, we will inform the customer where reasonably possible.

We will not be responsible for delays outside our reasonable control, including manufacturer, supplier or courier delays.

8. Electrical Systems & ADAS

Modern vehicles contain complex electrical and electronic systems.

Where an electrical fault is unrelated to our repair or results from a pre-existing condition, component failure or third-party work, it will not be covered by our workmanship warranty.

Some repairs may require ADAS calibration or recalibration.

Where calibration is required and is not expressly included within our estimate, the customer may need to arrange this separately or authorise us to arrange it at additional cost.

We will advise the customer where we reasonably identify that recalibration may be necessary.

9. Completion Times

Any estimated completion date is given in good faith.

Completion may be affected by additional damage discovered during repair, parts availability, supplier delays, insurance authorisation, paint/material availability or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We will keep customers reasonably informed of significant delays.

10. Collection & Delivery

Collection or delivery of vehicles may be available by prior arrangement and may incur an additional charge.

The customer must ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel or charge for any agreed movement of the vehicle.

Any reasonable fuel, charging, toll, parking or similar expense necessarily incurred may be added to the final invoice.

11. Completed Vehicles & Storage

Customers should collect their vehicle promptly once notified that repairs have been completed.

Where a vehicle remains uncollected without prior agreement, we reserve the right to apply a reasonable storage charge after giving the customer appropriate notice.

We will deal with genuinely abandoned or uncollected vehicles in accordance with applicable UK law, including where relevant the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.

12. Personal Belongings

Customers should remove money, valuables and personal belongings from their vehicle before leaving it with us.

We will take reasonable care of vehicles in our possession but cannot accept responsibility for personal belongings except where loss or damage results from our failure to exercise reasonable care.

13. Photographs & Video

We may photograph vehicles before, during and after repairs for estimating, quality-control, record-keeping and evidence of vehicle condition.

We will obtain appropriate permission before using identifiable customer information for marketing.

Customers who do not want images of their vehicle used for promotional purposes should inform us.

Workshop areas are restricted for health, safety and privacy reasons. Customers and visitors must obtain permission before entering restricted work areas.

14. Insurance & Accident Repairs

Where repairs form part of an insurance or accident-management claim, the customer authorises us to communicate with relevant insurers, engineers or claims representatives where necessary for the repair.

Where appropriate, the customer may be required to sign documentation allowing payment to be made directly to Versatile Vehicle Repairs Ltd.

Unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing, the customer remains responsible for charges that are not ultimately paid by an insurer or third party where the customer is legally responsible for those charges.

15. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due in full before or upon collection/release of the vehicle.

We may require deposits for parts, materials or larger repairs before work begins.

Special-order parts may require full or partial payment in advance.

A vehicle will not normally be released until cleared payment has been received, subject to the customer’s statutory rights and applicable law.

For qualifying business-to-business debts, we reserve our rights under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

16. Warranty

Qualifying bodywork and paint repairs carried out by Versatile Vehicle Repairs Ltd may be covered by our Lifetime Ownership Warranty, where expressly stated on the customer’s invoice or repair documentation.

The warranty applies to the original customer for as long as they continue to own the repaired vehicle and is not transferable unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

The warranty covers defects resulting from our workmanship or materials supplied by us in the qualifying repair.

It does not cover damage or deterioration caused by subsequent accidents, stone chips or external impact, rust/corrosion originating outside the repaired area, normal wear and tear, neglect or misuse, customer-supplied parts/materials, pre-existing repairs or underlying defects, third-party repairs or interference, environmental contamination, or failure to follow reasonable aftercare instructions.

Any warranty concern must be reported to us and the vehicle made available for inspection before third-party rectification work is undertaken.

Your statutory rights are not affected by this warranty.

17. Aftercare

Customers must follow any aftercare instructions provided following paint or body repairs.

Fresh paint requires appropriate care while curing. We may advise customers to avoid aggressive cleaning, polishing, automatic car washes or other processes for a specified period following repair.

Damage caused by inappropriate aftercare is not considered a workmanship defect.

18. Force Majeure

We will not be responsible for failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, fire, flood, power failure, supplier disruption, industrial action, government restrictions or other exceptional events.

This does not exclude any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

19. Consumer Rights

Nothing contained within these Terms & Conditions is intended to restrict or exclude rights available to consumers under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable legislation.

Where there is a conflict between these terms and rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted, the customer’s statutory rights will take precedence.
